Occupational Certificate: Water Reticulation Practitioner, (SAQA ID 102581 – NQF Level 04)
Overview: The Water Reticulation Practitioner (NQF Level 04) installs and maintains water reticulation infrastructure, identifies and attends to water leaks, installs water meters, maintains the water system and interfaces with colleagues. The specific occupational tasks for a Water Reticulation Practitioner include (QCTO Curriculum Document):
- Install water reticulation infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain a water reticulation system.
- Manage a water reticulation team.
Entry Requirements
- An NQF Level 2 with Mathematical literacy (i.e. Grade 10 / Standard 8 with mathematical literacy).
- Please also refer to the section on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Beneficiaries / Target Groups The target audience for the Water Reticulation Practitioner Qualification (NQF Level 04) include:
- (Water) practitioners in the private sector (eg. technicians, etc.) and public sector (i.e. technical staff of both water services and water resource management institutions). The technical staff may either be recently employed and/or have many years' experience but no academic qualifications.
- Young persons (aged 25 and below) through entry-level occupational qualifications.
Structure and Delivery of Occupational Qualifications The occupational qualifications each have three (3) Components of Competency, namely;
- A Knowledge Component,
- A Practical Skills Component, and
- A Workplace Experience component
The occupational qualifications will be offered over a 2-year period. The knowledge, practical and workplace experience components of an occupational qualification can be structured in a manner to accommodate the requirements of both part-time (i.e. employed staff) and full-time learners. A hybrid / blended approach to offering the academic programmes of WBC will be implemented. Theoretical and selected practical modules will be offered on-line. Adequate provision will be made for 'hands-on' training.
Water Business College (WBC) will apply relevant and the latest technology, software and virtual reality simulations to effectively / optimally deliver the knowledge, practical and workplace experience modules of these qualifications.

- The deadline for applications is 5 May 2021.
- The deadline for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) applications is 5 May 2021.
- The first intake of learners for the Water Reticulation Practitioner Qualification (NQF Level 04) is planned for June 2021.
- Water Business College (WBC) intends to enrol only a limited number of learners per qualification.

Occupational Certificate: Water Infrastructure Manager, (SAQA ID 104623 – NQF Level 08) Overview: The Water Infrastructure Manager (NQF Level 8) focusses on the management of water infrastructure assets with respect to the acquisition, operation and maintenance of such assets to reduce associated risks and costs over the life-cycle of the water infrastructure. The specific occupational tasks for a Water Infrastructure Manager include (QCTO Curriculum Document):
- Update or develop a Water Services Development Plan.
- Identify, design and develop water infrastructure programmes and projects.
- Coordinate, monitor and control of operational tasks relating water infrastructure.
- Develop and manage the water infrastructure operations and maintenance programme.
- Monitor, update and maintain the management information system.
Entry Requirements
- NQF Level 7 Qualification in either Engineering or Science.

Beneficiaries / Target Groups The target audience for the Water Infrastructure Manager Qualification (NQF Level 08) include:
- Graduates, either unemployed or recently employed in the water resource management and water services sectors (private and public sectors).
- Practitioners (with relevant tertiary qualifications) in the private sector (eg. scientists, engineers, etc.) and public sector (i.e. staff / officials / regulators of both water services and water resource management institutions) that intend to improve their education and/or change discipline.
